1991 – Discovered photography as a career option & embarked upon a 4-year adventure at Toronto’s Ryerson University, completing a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Still Photography in 1996.

1992 – Began my first of many summers as a photographer and raft guide at Wilderness Tours Whitewater Rafting Company on the mighty Ottawa River. I treasure these summers surrounded by Mother Nature and great people.

1995 – Traveled through Southeast Asia for 9 weeks and photographed my senior thesis examining the post-war baby boom of Cambodia while abroad.

1997 – Spent 2 weeks photographing post-war Bosnia as part of a press tour, with sponsorship from the Ottawa Citizen daily newspaper.

1998 – Founded Byfield Pitman Photography in Ottawa, ON, with fellow photographer Randall Stille, where I honed my skills as a photographer and as an entrepreneur.

2005 – Followed a lifelong dream to live in NYC and went to work for a high end photo studio in Manhattan. In developing a children & family division for the studio, I spent memorable days photographing in Central Park, the Hamptons and in clients’ homes. While in NY, I enjoyed the opportunity to expand my skills in studio lighting, digital photography and album design.

2010 – After a brief sojourn home to Ontario to craft a new venture of my own, I proudly launch MERGE photographic in Vancouver, BC.
